What Is PRP Therapy?

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is used in hair restoration treatment.  It is a three-part process where your provider will draw your blood, spin your blood in a centrifuge to extract the plasma, and then it is injected into the scalp to stimulate the follicle to grow hair.   

How effective is PRP for hair growth?

There is some evidence that PRP injections trigger natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle, increasing the thickness of the hair shaft. Sometimes this approach can sometimes be combined with other hair loss procedures or medications to achieve a better result.  There is not enough research to confirm that PRP is an effective hair loss treatment. However, PRP therapy has been in use since the 1980s. It’s been used for problems such as healing injured tendons, ligaments, and muscles, skin damage, and wound care.

PRP therapy process
